Tal Cohen is the author of two books: 'Treating Pain and Inflammation with Functional Medicine: The Complete Clinical Guide’  and  The 'Complete Guide to Removing Toxins & Improving Your Health.' He has presented on Functional medicine, stem cell therapy, oriental medicine, brain health, lifestyle and nutritional medicine in several venues, such as Oregon Health and Science University, Linfield College of Nursing, National University of Natural Medicine, Oregon Association of Nurses, public libraries, Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.


After suffering from asthma and allergies as a child and an injury at the age of 16, Tal refused to continue to use medication, such as inhalers, painkillers, and steroids. After trying all the conventional treatments without relief, he decided to seek for cure in other forms of medicine. After he managed to resolve his own health problems, Tal dedicated his life to guide and improve his patients’ health. "The Majority of our patients come to see us after years of suffering from different health conditions that cause them discomfort and prevent them from working or enjoying life with their family or loved ones. Many of these patients have seen other providers that have not done a complete and comprehensive evaluation." According to Tal, "if you have seen other providers and still suffer from pain or other health conditions, you probably did not find and treat the real cause of your problems."

After graduating and receiving his acupuncture license, he specialized in acupuncture and natural treatment of orthopedic and neurological pain at the Rehabilitation department of the Tel Aviv Souraski hospital and at the Integrative Medicine unit at the Assaf Harofe Medical Center. He also received clinical training in acupuncture and Chinese herbs in Zhejiang Provincial Hospital in China.  

Tal specialized in the natural treatment of conditions related to women's health and internal medicine during his doctorate studies. He graduated from Oregon College of Oriental medicine with a Doctorate of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine. Tal has post-graduate studies in education and is a Certified Health and Fitness Instructor from Wingate Institute, he has completed studies in Japanese acupuncture, integrative orthopedics and gynecology, and advanced natural nutrition training from the school of Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine in Berkeley, California, and Functional Medicine and Human Nutrition from University of Western States.

Tal is committed to guiding his patients and the public to change their life and improve their health. As part of his position in A New Way clinic, he develops and manages educational and clinical programs. 

Jonathan Nadal, ND, MSAOM, LAc

Naturopath physician, Specializes in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine

 Jonathan Nadal earned a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters in Science of Oriental Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine. This was a concurrent six-year program which included three years of internship at the NUNM main clinic and community clinics throughout Portland.


Jonathan provides acupuncture and manual therapy to patients in the stem cells and Functional medicine program. He completed a one-year mentorship in 5-Element acupuncture and biotherapeutic drainage, as well as internship in acupuncture to support stem cell therapy.  He also spend six months in an interdisciplinary clinic with counselors from Pacific University which focused on a variety of mental health conditions; along with treating under-served populations in downtown Portland.

Jonathan was born and raised in Miami, FL where the sunshine and ocean left a lifelong love for being immersed in nature. He earned a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Florida International University, where he placed emphasis in applied behavior analysis, and industrial and organizational psychology. When he does not practice medicine, you can find Jonathan behind his drum set playing in a local Portland band.

Nicholas Morales, DNP
Advance Practice Nurse Practitioner & Stem Cells Provider

Nicholas D. Morales BSN, DNP, is a board certified Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) with a certification in joint injections, IV therapy, and stem cell therapy. His education started at Clarke University (Dubuque, IA) with a bachelors in nursing. He then proceeded to complete his Doctorate at Brandman University (Irvine, CA) with a specialty in Adult and Gerontology populations.


Nicholas has 5 years of acute care nursing experience in the emergency department at multiple hospitals throughout Oregon and California. He trained at a primary care private practice in Southern California and in internal medicine at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. He In addition to working at A New Way Clinic, he also conducts annual wellness exams for Care Oregon.

Nicholas was raised in the Southern California and came to Portland after graduation as a newlywed. Throughout his life he has volunteered his time at homeless shelters, and abroad through well established organizations such as Volunteers for Peace and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). He enjoys attending performances at the Oregon Symphony, watching old movies at the Northwest Film Center, and scuba diving.

Laura Luka, MSAOM, L.Ac.
Licensed & National Certified Acupuncturist

Laura is a certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and licensed acupuncturist in the state of Oregon. She hold a graduate degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and have additional training in regenerative medicine. 

Laura has a vital role in supporting patients during their regenerative medicine program. She is very passionate about helping people achieve their health goals and eliminate pain.

Brandy Cohen

Brandy completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with specific interests in clinical Transpersonal Psychology and the integration of eastern and western religions that utilize mindful, body-centered, experiential practices and self-transcendent aspects into psychotherapies. ​After her bachelor degree, Brandy completed a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

Brandy has also served in the U.S. Air Force and is a Veteran with over ten years of service. She has an extensive background in Aviation and holds commercial pilot licenses with single and multi-engine flight instructor ratings. In her past career she immensely enjoyed teaching others the skills of flight and aircraft systems.

Lee Poe, ND
Naturopathic Physician

Lee Poe earned a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine. This was a five-year program with three years of internship at NUNM main clinic and community clinics throughout Portland.


Before attending medical school, Lee earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology at the University of Arizona.  He worked at a state funded behavioral agency for two years. His clinical experience as behavioral health case manager and crisis line operator has helped shape his personal mission and vision. 


He hopes to bring harmony in the lives of people he interacts with, and he seeks to help those in need find purpose and drive to become their best selves. Lee provides naturopathic care at local clinics, and he teaches kinesiology, anatomy/physiology, and pathology at East West College. He was raised in Tucson, Arizona where he enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets of the desert sky.  Monsoons in the desert will always have a special place in his heart. He enjoys hiking, camping, rocking climbing, commuting by bicycle (now e-bike), and bicycle touring.

Aiden grew up in San Diego, CA, and graduated from Iowa State University in 2017 with a bachelor’s in Technical Communication. She moved to Portland with her partner in 2018, hoping to find a job where she could make a positive impact helping others. Currently, Aiden works as a shift lead at A New Way Clinic and loves getting to know new people on the job. Outside of work, Aiden spends plenty of time with her partner and their cat, Friskieye. She enjoys spending time gardening, as well as writing, drawing, and trying out new recipes.

Felisha Caruso, ID
Operations Manager

Licensed Non-infectious diseases specialist (in CA) - with a specific degree in Genetic Diseases and Research Science. Was a Specialist for 6 years at San Francisco Medical, CA and Retired to pursue her love of Integrated Naturopathic and Holistic Genetic medicine domestic and foreign. 

Also has a graduate background in Ayurvedic & Integrative Medicine as of 2017 in CA and is currently finishing her PHD in Organic Naturopathic Genetical Engineering.

Has a great passion for nature, food, Learning. Is a strict vegan/vegetarian for health reasons. Has mountaineered 2 volcanic mountains over 14,000 ft in elevation in 2018, thru-hikes, rock climbs, and kayaks class 4 and 5 rapids and surfs as much as possible. Avid reader. Books are her addiction. 

Jess Knese, MS
Clinical Nutritionist

Jess grew up in Denver, CO and recently moved to the Portland area in 2019. She graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder with dual degrees in Integrative Physiology and Psychology. She decided to pursue a graduate degree in nutrition after working with a Primary Care Provider who implemented nutrition into her practice.  She graduated with her MS in Clinical Nutrition and Integrative Health from Maryland University of Integrative Health and has completed the requirements for her Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) certification. Before working at A New Way Clinic, she has also worked at a functional medicine clinic, primary care office, and community mental health center.


In her spare time, she loves playing sand volleyball, trying new recipes, and listening to true crime podcasts. Since she is new to the area, Jess also loves trying out new workout classes, hiking, and discovering all the other fun experiences the PNW has to offer.

Joshua Wong, MBA

Joshua is a recent MBA graduate from Pacific University, whose passions include I/O Psychology, and agile business development. Born in California and uprooted to Oregon at a young age, Joshua has an everlasting affinity for the sun, and all things bright and cheerful. Though fortunate enough to have had visits with Doctors only for check-ups and shots, Joshua is naturally empathetic towards, and motivated by, those suffering from any number of ailments. Joshua’s interests are varied and include: exercise, basketball, reading, writing, trying anything new (at least once) and of course, spending time with loved ones.

Jeremy Emmons joined A New Way Clinic as a Patient Services Representative and Events Assistant.  He has had an interest in Stem Cell therapy for many years.  He is currently enrolled in the Patient Access Specialist program at Portland Community College.

Having had a previous career in the culinary industry as a Chef, Jeremy has a passion for cooking with styles focused towards health and nutrition.  He also has many years of customer service from working in real estate as a leasing agent, developer’s assistant and carpentry.  Jeremy grew up traveling the world with his military parents and enjoyed many different cultures.  Jeremy especially likes cooking at home, going on hikes and camping with his partner Kari.

Jordan is the Event Coordinator at A New Way Clinic and organizes the educational seminars. She puts care into all the details to ensure everyone is comfortable and happy. When Jordan isn't planning events she loves going to the beach and eating chocolate ice cream.

Jacob provides technical support and assist with management of computer systems, website, blogs, and video production. He is also in charge of community outreach and online educational health programs. Jacob loves creating music, experimental films, and enjoying the outdoors.

Growing up Briana always had an interest in painting, drawing, photography, videography and always wondered how she could apply all these elements into one. Luckily, she came across graphic design and completed her bachelor's at Portland State University. Briana assists with digital media in creating well-designed outreach photos/videos for media platforms. She also enjoys the outdoors with her dog and loved ones.
